Project Brief

The Blue Room is Downtown Los Angeles’ last best kept secret in the local jazz community. A low-key environment with live jazz, rotating gallery featuring local artists, and great drinks. Inspired by the famous 1939 Blue Note Records label, Blue Room is like going down an unmarked door into their discography. The food and drinks are all loose and improvised like the music. The artwork, menu, and environment take a modern take on the work of the late great Reid Miles, the designer of over 500 LP covers for Blue Note. Thick lines, bold photos, and organized typography is the backbone of the identity. The finished product is a successful identity system that has been resulted in a drink menu, food menu, stationary suite, and packaging.

EMT-LA + Blue room

The Blue Room has joined Music Through Education - LA for a night of food, drink, and Jazz to benefit children who are left underfunded for public school music programs. Each ticket purchased will fund the musical education of one child for a year.
